This home in Palisades Park, NJ had a strong design vision - dark brick, crisp white panels, bold black trim throughout. The exterior was already making a statement. What it needed was railings that could keep up.

We installed horizontal-style aluminum railings on both sides of the double staircase, then wrapped them around the upper landing to tie the whole entry together. The powder coat finish is flat black, which locks in perfectly with the window frames, the front door, and the overall color palette of the home. Nothing feels like an afterthought here.

Horizontal railings read as cleaner and more contemporary than traditional vertical balusters. They draw the eye across rather than up and down, which actually makes the staircase feel wider and more intentional. On a home like this one, that detail matters.

Aluminum is our go-to for exterior railings on modern builds. It holds its finish, it doesn't rust, and it handles the freeze-thaw cycle that New Jersey winters are known for without warping or cracking. Powder coating takes that durability even further - the color stays consistent for years without needing to be repainted or touched up.

Front step railings are one of those upgrades that hit every category at once - safety, curb appeal, and long-term value. When they're designed to actually match the home rather than just check a code box, the difference is immediately obvious.
