Modern new construction deserves railings that keep up with the design. That's exactly what we were working with on this Cliffside Park job - a sharp, multi-level home with rooftop decks, a front staircase, and a mid-level balcony, all needing railings that felt intentional rather than just functional.
We went with sleek horizontal aluminum railings throughout. The dark finish ties directly into the black brick and bold window trim already built into the exterior. Nothing looks like an afterthought here. Every railing runs clean and level, and the horizontal lines add to the modern, geometric feel the whole build has going on.
Aluminum is a smart material choice for residential railings on a home like this. It won't rust, it holds its finish, and it handles weather well - which matters whether you're dealing with rooftop exposure or a front stair that sees constant foot traffic. It's the kind of material decision that pays off over years, not just opening day.
What we ended up with is a cohesive look from the ground stair all the way up to the rooftop deck. Multiple levels, multiple railing applications - stair railings, balcony railings, deck railings - all handled in one consistent style. That kind of coordination across a whole property is what separates a well-finished home from one that feels pieced together.
New construction is one of our favorite contexts to work in. The design is still being defined, which means there's real opportunity to get the details right from the start. Cliffside Park keeps seeing projects like this one, and we're glad to be part of getting them done the right way.
